Have a question about the game or the subreddit? Ask away!

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 05:00 PM PDT

Welcome to the daily /r/2007scape question thread!

You can ask anything about Old School RuneScape here. They are designated for you to ask anything you like that is relevant to the game or this subreddit. Remain respectful to your fellow 'scapers when answering questions; there are stupid questions, but it does not mean you should not be respectful whilst answering them.

Keep in mind that this is not a developer Q&A thread - questions for the game developers should be posted in the weekly developer Q&A posts.

Shoutout to the absolute legends in the "OSRS SOA" clan chat

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:12 AM PDT

A few days ago I hammered out Shield of Arav and Heroe's Quest. The "osrs soa" clan made that an absolute breeze.

Someone was using two accounts, one in each gang. He had the quest items ready to go. Shield of Arav took under 5 minutes.

When I came back for Heroe's Quest, someone else was in Brimhaven to help out. One account in the lobby, one ready to safespot the guard.

I had both quests knocked out in under an hour, which is more time than it took just to find a partner on my main a year ago.

With a new desert quest and lore coming upon us, are we finally getting rid of this ugly black border that has been plaguing the region for years?

Petition for the Catacombs of Kourend's prayer restoration effect to apply to ashes as well

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:11 AM PDT

Currently, Bones restore 1 prayer point, Big bones restore 2, Dragon bones restore 4, when buried (or crushed with the Bonecrusher) in the Catacombs.

There are lots of monsters that drop ashes in the Catacombs!

    Specifically:
Lesser & Greater demons, Hellhounds, Bloodvelds all drop Vile ashes,
Black demons & Nechryael drop Malicious ashes,
    Abyssal demons drop Abyssal ashes,
    and Skotizo drops Infernal ashes.

I think it'd be consistent if scattering the ashes and/or use of the Ash sanctifier restored:
0 pp for Fiendish ashes (irrelevant, none in the catacombs anyway),
    1 pp for Vile ashes,
    2 pp for Malicious ashes,
    2-3 pp for Abyssal ashes,
and 4 pp for Infernal ashes (or 0 if Skotizo is somehow deemed "outside the area of effect").

Specifically, changing Bloodvelds (and Hellhounds) to drop ashes instead of bones made those tasks slightly more annoying to use prayer during, and is what prompted this. This change would keep them consistent with the state they were in before, as well as applying the boon to creatures that are generally tougher to kill than their bony counterparts. Thoughts?

Item sink idea for raids 3

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:14 AM PDT

If Any of you have played classic wow before, you would be familiar with the concept of the opening of the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Basically it's a server wide effort where you donate different types of items to npcs to help with the war effort and once all the item thresholds have been completed the raid opens up to the server. This concept could work well as a community driven item sink to get all players access to raids 3 once achieved. For example, the community must donate to the tomb of amascuts war effort, they must supply their soldiers with 600 bandos chestplates, 2k Occult necklaces, 500k sharks, etc, etc.

Raids 3 confirmed, Tombs of Amascut

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 01:18 PM PDT

Long ago, the citizens of the Kharidian Desert lived prosperous and luxurious lives. However, all that changed when Amascut, the Goddess of Rebirth, was corrupted and warped. Amascut became the Devourer, intend on devouring every soul in existence. Deep within the desert, an ancient tomb has long hidden a great power. It is this great power that Amascut seeks. You must take the fight to Amascut before it's too late. The Tomb of Amascut, Old School's third Raid will be coming in early 2022.

    Notable features:

    - New BIS mage offhand, combined with arcane sigil. At time of release you'll be able to dismantle arcane spirit shield and get the sigil back, destroying the spirit shield.

    - Scaling difficulty, start will be easy and end will be harder. Rewards available for just doing the start.

    - Locked behind Beneath Cursed Sands, a Master tier quest. Requirements for the quest are Contact, 62 Agility, 55 Firemaking and 55 Smithing. Length wise it will likely be a bit shorter than Sins of the Father.

    - Team size 1-8, subject to change I guess as with any announcement

    - Not safe death for hcim

There's more rewards to be announced in a blog coming soon. There'll be a beta to let people test them out before the poll.

    Suggestion: Large group ironman

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:46 AM PDT

Since jagex is releasing group ironman, I suggest an ironman mode that allows for groups of unlimited size. Hear me out, when you create an account you can opt in to be assigned into the 'Large group ironman' group, which allows you to trade with other players in the group. Since this group will eventually become VERY large, it would be great to have an exchange hub (maybe in a large city) that allows players to buy and sell items with each other, without having to find each other. This would be similar to regular group ironman except on a global scale.
