Weekly Q&A with Mods: Husky, Roq, Sween, Ash, Gambit.

(See my comment on this post for a non-table mobile option!)

    Question Answer
Timestamp. Starts Husky, Roq, Sween, Ash, Gambit.
Timestamp. Hiscores / Highscores / High-scores not working. Made a change last week, that did not fix the issue. Have another fix in the works that we aim to launch in the next few weeks but we are working on it and understand how frustrating it is! Mod Genesis mentioned something about the tech; Boss KC scores were launched with larger numbers with lots of people and the system wasn't made to expect that and hasn't handled that, looking at optimisation etc - he didn't write this system but it was made years and years ago before him! Also not as easy as stopping boss hiscores now because the system was never written in a way expecting that we'd want to delete a skill.
Timestamp. Zalcano drop table reworked last week and this week. Further cut out the ores received, changed tool seed rate to 1/200, with 1/8000 Onyx. Shards to roll and given independently like a pet would.
Timestamp. Gielinor Gazette was launched last week, it went well and we're happy with that! In future Gazettes we want to tackle and update on meatier projects in each one. Like a table or something showing where each thing is at - like Group ironman etc.
Timestamp. Group Ironman / GIM side note. Engine teem seem to be putting components into code-review which is a pretty good sign of progress (for the features required for clans/GIM), no idea how much they have done or still need to do!
Timestamp. Gamecenter update Still working on it. The way it works is that our mobile team has to develop these things then they have to be approved and allowed by Apple. As that's a dependency outside our studio it's hard to promise any dates for that!
Timestamp. PVP. Lots of really promising discussion and vision-work. This will feed into our roadmap which we are still working on so can't yet publish! When we do publish that we would want to show a firm roadmap of when - month by month - which updates are coming. There have been 100s of suggestions from you and a lot that we look to incorporate if they fit and please continue to do so via the suggestion form!
Timestamp. OSRS 7 year Birthday! Game update tomorrow to check that out. Will come with half-jugs of wine. 7th Birthday stream 21st there will be a special livestream with some of us, talking about major events and updates from past 7 years. Birthday event play-through. Data-stream (thanks Mod Nasty!). Jmod hide and seek. 4pm-6pm UTC.
Timestamp. Questions, we want a way to field questions from you that allows for them to reach us without getting lost in upvotes/downvotes etc. This will give you a form to ask the question and includes RSN option in-case we need to ask for more detail. We will only ever contact you via in-game message center (not email!) for follow up on these. -- osrs.game/questions
Timestamp. Darkmeyer. Next week there will be a blog talking about/recapping things that were announced here at RuneFest that you will be voting on in the poll.
Timestamp. Husky talks about next week's stream. Want to gather feedback earlier on in the design process for the thing I'm working on (Hallowed Sepulcher). All we've given players at this stage is that it's Agility but not conventional clicking/laps. So next week going to show 2-ish weeks of work with placeholder assets to show mechanics. This will allow more feedback earlier. This will be more click-intensive agility and also look to show concept art and design process. --- Sween: Keen to incorporate in other updates how playtest feedback works and to share that with the wider community earlier in the design.
Timestamp. [Slideshow and discussion] Last week we published a blog-post regarding death mechanics. We've updated the blog and prepared a slide show to discuss and show how this has changed. (This is a huge topic and is best seen via blog-post as this is a discussion on updates to the blog-post) https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=135/death-mechanics-in-old-school?oldschool=1
Timestamp. [IMAGE] Roq Talks about GameBlast. Jagex as a company are not taking part in the 24h event as in previous years. There are members of the community that are giving their time to do a chain-stream in order to raise as much money for charity as possible! Couple of former and current staff members in there too. If you do have time to stop in by those streamers that weekend then please do.
Timestamp. Check out Gambits jacket - Letterman style will be available via merch store and a pin/keyring so check that for more details. Nice! It has an ironman logo on the back. Send feedback if you like too!
Timestamp. Could the level-up popup menu be re-opened by clicking the message in the chat box or similar? If we go to a system like this then we would potentially rather add something like what RuneScape did in 2009 where the symbol would flash. This would all involve a rework of that system which includes a fair bit of work. This would be nice to have.
Timestamp. Do you think you revealed the Nightmare drop rates too soon? Husky: Personally I think so. It was EDs content so up to him. Seems there was a lot of confusion on drop rates which may of fed into that release early. Not sure if that's the right thing but it's different. Is there a preference like a set time after the update people should like them? --- Roq: Would like for them to be never released! Though understandable that some players would like to know that exactly and know how much effort/time is required. --- Gambit: There's definitely something to say in having that mystery. --- Could include a question in a poll to get an idea on how long players feel we should wait? Strawpoll: 1-3 Months: 35% --- 0-2 weeks: 21% --- 14-30 days: 20% --- 6mo +: 11% --- Never: 13%.
Timestamp. Would the team consider reimplementing classic minigames like Soul Wars, Fist of Guthix, Stealing Creation etc. Been asked many times! Not a direct answer but in some recent ideation days some team members have been investigating and looking at how content like that could potentially be ported from RS3. Will likely talk more about ideation days in March's Gazette. --- Roq: Also good to look at why/how players wanted those pieces of content, for the rewards or for the experience? --- Sween: I remember Soul Wars was used a lot for people training mage by bursting piles of players and players played stealing creation for the tools and coordinated on worlds to fix the game to draw. Fist of Guthix people traded wins and so on. Would look to manage these things so that the actual fun of it is the focus.
Timestamp. Could we get the option to build walls in our POH to fill in the edges? You'd essentially have to make a blank room? To make it so there's no doors outside we would need to add another location to the room to accept build items - some rooms cannot handle that. There can be 8 hotspots (maybe go to 9) for rooms. Tricky as it can impact load time and so on. Be nice to look into then come back to players about.
Timestamp. Is it possible to consolidate charges on other Jewellery to be like the Ring of Life? Like Glory charges would be shared across all that you own. Right now that is stored on the items and they're completely different. Wouldn't be a quick or easy thing regarding charging glories and take away from things like the Eternal Glory. Not feasible sorry.
Timestamp. Since Warding failed, are there plans on updating Crafting or Runecrafting to make ways to make magic robes, imbuing things etc. Would love to take imbues away from NMZ, just a matter of finding where! No plans to bring the robes to RC or Crafting but maybe somewhere?
Timestamp. A while ago, planting exp for Herbs was moved to the Harvesting point so players can dig up the herb before it's finished. This means if a Herb die then the planting exp is lost, was this intentional? Yes, we accepted that.
Timestamp. You can't un-make normal gloves into leather so you shouldn't be able to un-make ferocious gloves. It would make the Hydra leather more scarce and valuable. Something like that is similar to the prayers from Chambers of Xeric.. Roq wouldn't see an issue doing it that way but given how many there are now and that it's so long released there is a lot of unknowns and issues. If it's something that people want in the future then we can consider it. Probably more on a case-by-case basis.
Timestamp. Is there a way to Sort quests by difficulty or requirements (or those that you are closest to meeting requirements for). As a new player it's quite daunting having a huge list of red quests. The problem is that we don't really have a meta-data of quests like that. The wiki does already have the ability to sort by difficulty, length etc (and may be working on a 'quests I have requirements for'). Adding an icon or information in-game could require a bit of work. Input vs value and we do have people looking at early-game experience so can pass it on.
Timestamp. Crystal/Elven POH Theme? Could make it require 1k shards or something. What about a reward from a future league? Droppable POH blueprints could be a cool way to introduce it elsewhere? A lot of graphics time is spent on those things. Perhaps something like that could be attached to big content and have a balanced drop-rate to help it retain value. Just a balance between development/graphics cost and what will provide use to players.
Timestamp. Could Vials of Blood come from other sources? There could be reasonably more sources in the Darkmeyer update, but decided that having it stay on ToB is the best solution.
Timestamp. Stream conclusion and reiteration of announcements. Thanks!

The aftermath of opening 2500 Medium clue caskets

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 06:31 AM PST

    Hey everyone!

After posting my stack of 2500 medium clue caskets a few days ago, a lot of the comments were asking for a follow-up post with the loot, so here it is!

So, first let's start with numbers.
I stacked up 400 medium caskets when I started on the 10th of November. But then Twisted League came out, and I started playing that until around January 5th, where I restarted my casket stack. I finished 2500 medium caskets on the 18th of February.
With my setup, I am able to gather + solve around 20 medium clues per hour if I'm focused, meaning this grind took me around 125 to 150 hours.

I initially invested 228.6m into 72.5k eclectic implings, I ended up having just under 5000 implings left after finishing the stack worth 16.4m. So, initial cost: 212.2m.
After finishing the stack, I sold all the loot from the implings, as I needed a bit more cash to fill all the Master clue hidey-holes. The impling loot sold for 85.8m; I'm now at a 126.4m loss.

Then finally, I started opening the caskets, which took almost 30 hours in total due to all the master clues that I solved during it. The loottab from the medium clues can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/myYJoSK
I ended up receiving 94 master clues from the mediums, but I had a few master caskets before I started opening the mediums.
EDIT: Total loottab value came down to 260.1m, giving me a neat profit of 133.7m.

And finally, earlier today the medium casket stack reached 0. It was absolutely draining to do this all in such a short time, but my Twitch chat eased the pain a lot, so thank you guys <3

So, now that the mediums were done, it was time to open the masters! To my surprise, I only ended up getting 5 mimics from 111 master caskets. But I'm not complaining, as this happened...

Absolutely the luckiest I have been in this game! You can find the full Master loot tab at the bottom of this album: https://imgur.com/a/myYJoSK
EDIT: Total Master loot tab (excluding the big-ticket item) came down to 104.2m

All of this was streamed on my Twitch channel
Videos of this will be made Soontm and uploaded to my Youtube channel as well!

Thank you all very much for the support and interest!

Tldr; big loots, very happy. Tabs: https://imgur.com/a/myYJoSK

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:41 AM PST

Last night I noticed that when you decant potions to (1) and then put them back to (4) you get a bunch of vials. At small numbers I thought huh that's cool I guess he gives you free vials. So today I had the bright idea to push that idea to the limit and buy thousands of potions and even hop onto a pvp world and dump all my extra vials into a looting bag and do this over and over. After 65k vials I was getting stoked, I was like this is going to fund me for so long if I keep it up. And then my dreams came crashing down as my homeboy the decanter told me I didn't have enough cash for the next load. Only then did I realize my cash stack was depleted and these bad boys were costing me 5 gp each and I was now broke. RIP 200k.

TLDR: I'm an idiot and Bob swindled me.
