    Does anyone else feel like the current OSRS is superior to the pre-EOC state of the game?

    So I was thinking a little bit about how the current OSRS state of game is and in all honesty I feel like this is the ultimate version of the classic Runescape game we all fell in love with as children/teenagers.

    So what are the key differences? Well for starters a TON of updates have been geared towards improving the quality of life and overall player experience without bloating the game. Little changes like the ease of transportation, the make screens, Graceful armor with stamina pots. It all sort of fills the same niche that a ton of the summoning content provided without making the game feel so overly bloated.

    On the topic of summoning, I firmly believe it was and likely still is the most unnecessary skill to be released. It just made everything feel bloated. Suddenly there was the need to loot untradeable charms in addition to normal money making drops. Suddenly there was a need to remember to bring a BoB for certain skilling and money making, and then another drainable point system to remember in addition to prayer. A potential combat partner that ONLY worked in multi when a ton of important PvM was single way anyways which meant that the most useful familiars were the supportive ones (Bunyip/Unicorn). It made certain areas feel over crowded when everyone is bringing their best summoning familiar to Castle Wars. In all honesty the biggest pluses from summoning - Beasts of Burden, unlimited run energy, passive healing and skilling boosts. Well they've all been implemented in some way in the current game and done better than the way summoning brought them to the table.

    Now let's get into gear, well most of the gear that existed back then is in the current game, most of the beloved gear. Let's be honest, no one is missing Korasi's sword, even if it was considered quite good. I really prefer the volatile nightmare staff just because it MAKES MORE SENSE. It provides that same Korasi-esque special but it requires a magic based attack style bonus to be useful. Overall the addition of new spells and ranged weapons has made the classic combat triangle very balanced for the most part. Wrath spells definitely gave magic that extra oomph it so desperately needed for the standard spell book.

    Overall gear selection is quite good. The game at the time did introduce Pernix armor, but from what I recall the T80 Pernix was pretty useless.

    One thing I will admit though that RS2 had which would be a lot of fun still is Dungeoneering as a stand alone skill. I was initially lukewarm to it, but eventually realized how much fun the skill really was for some pretty cool perks between best in slot weapons to custom resource dungeons, it would have been better if the dungeoneering skill felt more tied into the main game rather than a mini-game in skill format. I have yet to try the gauntlet in OSRS though so I do not know if OSRS has managed to capture that same great feeling Dungeoneering rbought.

    Anyways, just a few thoughts, I've seen other posters state they would return to Pre-EOC in a heartbeat but, outside of the additional quest storylines, I find that the current state of game feels more balanced and well thought out than the game at the time back then.
