    365 days of OSRS' lore, day 2: The First age of Gielinor and the genesis of its races.

    The first age of Gielinor, known as the age of creation, is perhaps most intriguing because it introduces us to the fact that, in a way, all creatures in Gielinor are aliens or derivant from aliens, as all the various races hail from other planets, or homeworlds, vampires aren't some cursed humans, they're their own race which hails from their homeworld of Vampyrium, and were transported into Gielinor by Zaros in the second age, unlike humans which came from a homeworld probably called Teragard.

    The elves likewise come from their homeworld of Tardiadd, they were brought to Gielinor by Seren, another goddess and sister of Zaros, she, unlike the other gods to follow, came to know about Gielinor because Guthix encountered her in Tardiadd in his journeys, the two of them were the only gods which inhabited Gielinor for most of the first age, but an important fact to keep in mind is that while Seren lived and ruled over the elves in her own side of Gielinor, Guthix, who was the first one to discover Gielinor, and had introduced many races to Gielinor like humans, dwarves, gnomes and giants, decided to fall into slumber deep underground, perhaps unwilling to meddle with mortals, maybe with an interest in letting them flourish at their own pace.

    I love this game's lore, and I wish more than only a tiny fraction of the community knew about these stories, so I'll be posting once a day a lore bit to promote interest into this game's rich lore.

    I will be using lore from RS3 only when I deem it clear enough that the lore between the two is shared, as quests like SOTE, DSII and SOTF have shown that most of it has mainly stayed the same, if not for some additions.

    I want to thank everyone for yesterday's positive feedback, glad to see more interest than what I was expecting for lore!

    Hey everyone,

    for the past couple of weeks i have been working on a new DPS calculator for oldschool runescape, and I think it is ready to go public!

    Now I know what you are thinking, there are already a ton of dps calculators out there, what makes this one different?

    Introducing GearScape:

    A DPS calculator that can also calculate the best possible setup for your preferences! There is a wide variety of options you can choose and fill in, and the tool will calculate the setup with the highest possible dps for you.

    You can choose:

    • Your stats.
    • Whether you are on task or not.
    • Completed diaries.
    • Exclude items, prayer, potions you do not have access to.
    • Choose the budget of the setup.
    • And more...

    There are a lot of different items and posibilities, so if you have found something that doesn't seem right, please let me know :) Any feedback is appreciated!

    In a recent update changes were made to how music plays when in OSRS. It was changed so that music was grouped in to cities and music would be randomly selected from a list. There are a lot of people, including myself who are very unhappy with this change as it has severed the connections between iconic music and places.

    Jagex themselves seem to acknowledge this connection as Harmony still plays when you make a new character and spawn in lumbridge, but is only guaranteed to play on that initial visit. The reason given for this exception is that because it is nostalgic, but they don't seem to realize that it's nostalgic precisely because it played EVERY time you went to lumbridge, the connection between Harmony and Lumbridge was concrete. It won't be nostalgic for new players as Harmony will only play ~20% of the time you are in lumbridge castle.

    Book of spells for example was composed to fit the area behind lumbridge, walking from lumbridge castle through the graveyard and into the swamp the music would go quiet (beginning of book of spells) and all you could hear was the bubbling of the swamp as the music slowly builded. It was fantastic, and this effect is all but gone now and it's really disappointing.

    I could keep listing examples, like how Inspiration can play in the chaos altar now...

    Something like this really should have been polled from the start and I find it baffling that it wasn't. I hate to say it, but it makes it really hard to trust Jagex when stuff like this gets randomly changed out of the blue.

    At the very least I would implore the team to please add this new music system as an opt-in toggle-able feature so that everyone can be happy.

    I'm just posting this in case I ever end up in a coma and somebody is looking for ways to wake me up. Please just play the sound of someone attacking rock crabs for ten minutes and then just make it stop. I always reset my aggro.

    PSA - Runelink (Connect 4) is a game where first move always win - DO NOT GAMBLE

    I have seen people wagering on Runelink in world 302 - as is tradition. Runelink is Connect 4 and the thing about connect 4 is the first move will always win the game. First Move always win.

    It is easy for someone to finesse you out of your money with this connect 4 solver and just quit the game if they don't get first move. Don't bet on these games.
