    Is it really Jagex's job to pump out PvP content? Are they responsible for a dead PvP community?

    My mind is just going back to the 2008-2012 era where BH was full, mage bank was popping and there was a vibrant brid community at wests (kind of miss the SS meta where people didn't switch protection prayers man).

    There wasn't really that much PvP content, we had BH, PvP worlds, rev caves. That was about fucking it, and people loved it all the same. Clans had fun either clearing out rev caves or warring each other, you could even hop on with a few buddies and clear rev caves without worry of a clan logging in and smiting you for your shit too. PvP was active because the community valued it, players like taco limey, binu22, b0aty or w/e you used to fanboy were idolised in the community and being a good pker is something that was valued ingame. The skiller community wasn't really that big in contrast, the HLF was a pretty small tight knit community and players like Jebrim and the TMOA boys used to get shat on for going for records, 200m xp ect.

    The community has changed, PvP is not valued as much. My hypothesis for this is that ironman/general skilling goals are more valued and PvP isn't progress towards any of these, you PvP because you enjoy it, not because it's worth doing (unless you're some high risker god). I also think that the PvP community is generally far more toxic than it used to be and you didn't have PvP clans asking for fucking deposits to join. The botting and doxxing is generally worse now than it used to be (not to say that it didn't happen). I have very fond memories of getting absolutely slain my first brid fight, and this guy taught me how to brid pretty well via the duel arena and we would go rev caves together. That... generally... doesn't happen anymore.

    I guess in conclusion, I think it's ok if PvP isn't as hot as it used to be, and it was never about the content. People don't do PvP because it isn't fun or welcoming to do so and due to the risk/reward nature of it, only the best of the best can do it and have it be worthwhile for them. Also, due to the risk/reward nature of it, any attempt to address it to have the average player earning lots of money means that it will be heavily abused. I just don't think that adding content solves the issue, it's a community aspect, nobody is getting into PvP because of a fucking sword.
