Posted: 05 Mar 2021 04:48 AM PST I've only been playing since August, but already I've noticed a trend with game updates; it feels like we sometimes get updates we didn't ask for and the things we do ask for get neglected. Instituting periodic ranked choice voting would help inform Jadflax's decision-making process when deciding what to work towards. An example question: Out of the following categories, please rank them how you would like them to be prioritized: - Mini-game reworks/additions - Wilderness reworks/additions - New quests - New map areas - (Insert whatever big projects the team is considering, i.e. Group Ironman or Raids 3) Obviously, we could probably crowdsource a better series of categories than what I've included above, but you get the idea. The bottom line is that instituting something like this would give players more agency in the direction of the game and that's something I think we all want. [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Mar 2021 07:55 AM PST A friend of mine in my iron man clan was hacked yesterday. He had 2FA on his RS account and the associated email address. Thankfully, his account recovery request was processed successfully this morning, and his PIN was still active for another 2 days - a crisis averted. In talking through this with my friend, as well as others, it seems that the 'hackers' - I'll just call them bad actors in this case - were able to get Jagex to change the email address of the account. My friend noted that at 3:25 AM (local), there was an email in his inbox requesting to recover the account. Based on email audit logs, nobody accessed his email or breached his 2FA - therefore, his email was not compromised, and an attempt to recover the account was being made via Jagex systems / processes. I ran a quick test on one of my alts; I was able to quickly verify that you can disable 2FA on a Runescape account via the registered email. So, in theory, if someone submits a 'lost email access' request to Jagex, and Jagex approves such a request without true confirmation that the bad actor is the account owner, said bad actor can gain full control of an account and immediately disable 2FA by having access to the new email for the account. Frankly speaking, if you have 2FA on your RS account and the associated email, it should be an impenetrable technical wall... so are people losing their accounts to lackadaisical controls on changing 'lost' emails? Is the problem that it is too easy to claim that your email is no longer accessible? Should there be more burden of proof on changing missing emails? These are questions that come to mind when I think about solving this problem. I'll happily pay $0.50 more per month if Jagex can figure this out. [link] [comments]
