Welcome to the daily /r/2007scape question thread!

You can ask anything about Old School RuneScape here. They are designated for you to ask anything you like that is relevant to the game or this subreddit. Remain respectful to your fellow 'scapers when answering questions; there are stupid questions, but it does not mean you should not be respectful whilst answering them.

Keep in mind that this is not a developer Q&A thread - questions for the game developers should be posted in the weekly developer Q&A posts.

An update regarding the post I made yesterday about how every top 100 placement for Zalcno was a goldfarming account. They smashed the banhammer.. HARD.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 02:52 AM PST

Yesterday I made a post about how every top 100 Zalcano player was a goldfarmer.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/l5danm/a_reminder_that_every_single_top_100_placement/

    Today, mod Tyran took action.

    https://twitter.com/jagextyran

Out of the top 550 players, 535 have been banned for goldfarming. Massive props to Tyran for clearing these up. The average value on these accounts was 6.3m gp. This is a good step in the right direction, however it's not done yet.

Now it's time for the real money makers. COX/TOB/Nightmare. I'm expecting roughly 75% will be banned for these, with the average value of accounts being way more than 6.3m Average. Please continue your great work and make us proud of being in top placements at highscoers without goldfarmers being there.

    update:Another 3000 banned

Feedback on the Blowpipe nerfs in inferno

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 06:06 AM PST

Disclaimer I have beaten the Inferno 6x on normal game and 10x on Trailblazer so I think my opinion on this holds some merit.

I just tested blowpipe in the Inferno on the beta world using dragon darts and I felt that the accuracy and damage nerfs don't change the difficulty much. That said, they are very noticeable and imo they feel like they're a bit too big.

I'm seeing two issues so I'm going to suggest two possible solutions which are just tiny nerfs to the monsters in the inferno.

1st PROBLEM: You hit a LOT more 0's on the meleer which in many cases you wanna kill ASAP. Often times on the difficult waves, if the meleer is given enough time to dig, you'll be forced to either do difficult prayer flicking techniques or run south. Because the meleer has a decent defense level of 120 and ranged defense level of 50, the huge BP accuracy nerf hurts a lot here.

SOLUTION: I'm proposing that the meleers (Jal-ImKot) ranged defense level be reduced from 50 to ~30. This small change would make it so that the blowpipe kills the meleers at about roughly the same speed as it currently does.

2nd PROBLEM: The mager-ranger sets during the Zuk fight are going to be harder to deal with. Even though I didn't have time to try Zuk, I'm certain that bursting down the ranger is gonna be hard because I could feel the lower max hit when fighting rangers.

SOLUTION: I'm proposing that the hitpoints of the rangers (Jal-Xil) ONLY during the Zuk fight be reduced from 130 to ~120. This small change would help prevent the blowpipe nerfs from affecting the Zuk boss fight too much if you're using dragon darts.

Everyone is ignoring the real truth of the matter. The rot starts at the design philosophy level, not at the combat triangle.

If Dhide and bulwark nerfs were brought up before tome of water and swamp bark were polled, they wouldn't have passed.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 11:16 PM PST

    Title.

Tome of water and swampbark will extend the accuracy and duration of freezes/snares. I think that jagex should wait to see the effect that these already-passed polls have on the game before continuing with the nerfs to dhide and dinhs bulwark.

If bulwark and dhide nerfs were brought up before the tome and swampbark were polled, I do not think they would have passed.

At least wait and see how this new content affects things before you hamstring stat based counters to snares/freezes.

The rebalance beta is an unfair comparison to what players will actually see.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 03:54 AM PST

Most of the items contained within the chest for the beta worlds are either best in slot or second best in slot. For example, there are no d'hide boots included in the beta. Considering this is the type of item that the majority of players are likely to be using with the blowpipe, how can we make a fair comparison without using exactly the same gear in the beta world as we use in the main game? Not many people will have full armadyl compared to the majority of players.

Also as the majority of players won't have 99 ranged, the fact that all the skills are automatically set to 99 is also an unfair comparison. Looking at the difference of using a blowpipe to do fight caves between the difference of using a 75 or 99 ranged player is night and day in fight caves in the live game (for example).

This methodology of testing is going to skew people to feel that the changes aren't as drastic as they are on paper as Jagex are only providing a way to see the best possible outcomes; rather than what players will realistically see in their own gameplay once the changes go live.
