    Authenticator loophole requiring immediate attention. Please help

    Recently a close friend of mine (who doesn't use reddit)'s account has become compromised and he was immediately alerted that the account was online and requesting a loan off people in our cc and on his friends list. Fortunately, no damage was able to be done as they didn't have access to his bank pin. How they gained access to his account is beyond me considering he had authenticator enabled as well as 2 factor authentication on his email.

    He immediately responded by following Jagex's standard protocol in response to being hacked.

    1. Performed a virus scan on his computer
    2. Changed his password through the website
    3. He disabled and enabled authenticator on the account to ensure it was impossible for them to re-enter the account
    4. Terminated all mobile sessions
    5. Changed his email password

    Today his account was compromised again despite all of these security protocols being followed. Whilst they were able to access the account they once again were not able to bypass by bank-pin meaning no damage has been done however this needs to be immediately addressed.

    Looking into this I have found others on reddit who have also had this problem. This authenticator bypass has been surfacing more and more lately as seen in other reddit threads. https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/iykhqe/account_security_help_possible_loopholeissue/

    edit: I believe we've found out what went wrong, under the Account support section of the website, there was an unknown Google account linked to the RS account, allowing for one-click logging in DESPITE changes to both authenticator and password.To me this seems absolutely insane that just having a google login (not even the account linked to authenticator) can bypass every security measure.

    Why does having a linked account NOT require authenticator even after changes to the account's security settings? This seems like a relatively easy fix to save a lot of hassle.
