Do you remember your first Jad fight, or even your first five Jad fights? If you're like the majority of players, you were probably shaking during the entire Jad phase, and were pretty upset that you just wasted 1.5 hours, even if was a safe death, because you only have 2 hours a day to play.

My point is not to focus on Jad, but to give an example of first time bossing. Not everyone is as good as maxed mains and other sweats. Not everyone has loads of time to play. Not everyone plays for efficiency, but instead they play for fun.

I enjoyed the original RS death mechanics (die and forfeit your gear), but that was also when people didn't walk around with 100m plus gear on.

Do you know how often people sell their entire bank for gear to fight one boss, just to try and make some gold? Like, fucking always. So imagine selling your bank to buy gear and supplies for Graardor, then imagine dying because you're new to that fight or lagged out. Then imagine panicking because your entire bank, that you spent literal months obtaining, is on the floor of a dungeon and you have 15 minutes to get there. But because you don't have much of anything left, you've gotta sell what very little you can, buy gear to get back to Graardor, take some gold, and somehow manage to make it back to your corpse, all while freaking out.

These newly proposed mechanics may have worked at one point, but not where the game is now. RuneScape isn't a game that should be prided or played because of its damn death mechanics. If death mechanics were the shining star of the game, well, it would be a pretty shitty game.

The game already requires 100's, if not 1000's, of hours to grind for maxed stats, not to mention unique boss drops. Why does the game need risk on top of that endless grind for pvm gear? How does that help the health of the game?

Edit: Since many people want to attack those of us who do not want the death mechanics to change, and do not agree with the scenario I've proposed, how about this new scenario?

Imagine you're a new player. Totally new, on mobile, playing the game from scratch (because some people don't like to constantly watch guides on how to play a game as it ruins the experience). You've been playing for about a week, grinding combat stats, exploring, etc. You've managed to get into Addy gear during this time and it has taken 20+ hours to do so, not because the grind is hard, but because you're new and you aren't efficient yet. While exploring and possibly questing, you happen to die. Bam, you're back in Lumby. You are new, so you had most of your stuff on you, including your meager cash stack because you weren't ever sure what you would need out there. You panic because you have no idea where your body is or how to get back there. You aren't familiar with the areas of the game yet. Sure, you have your Addy chest, legs, and shield, but everything else you just worked a week for is gone because you can't figure out how to get back to it.

That is how you insure that new players promptly quit.

Died by being careless with my antipoisons. Came back and couldn't collect any of my items because they're too close to the trap. Right clicking and hitting "take" just makes me walk over the trap and doesn't actually pick the item up.

Make the gravestone free for the first 2 minutes. After that charge a fee.

This would give the same feeling as we did have 5 years ago. You would need to hurry back, and if you don't make it back in 2 minutes you have to pay the fee.

New Death Mechanics are the solution, obviously.
