    The OSRS economy november 2019, GDP and Inflation estimates

    Hello fellow OSRS players!

    I've been hearing players having concerns about the economy, precisely the raising prices of items. For that reason I want to share with you my findings regarding this matter.

    My background: Bachelors degree in Business Administration and I'm currently working on my Masters degree in Economics. 12 years RS player.

    A few notes before we dive into the numbers:

    1. I have no personal gain from posting this.
    2. These calculations are only based on two basket of goods and therefore DO NOT represent the overall economy.
    3. Since we cannot get the real numbers for the overall production of the economy, we will use the trading volumes from the Grand Exchange as an estimate for the production.
    4. I won't be discussing the results because I want your feedback first. Would you want me to post updates like this monthly? Would you want me to commit more? This is a very short post, I could be doing and writing more, but I don't want to commit at this stage, I want to see if this post gathers enough attention.

    The Gathering Basket

    The gathering basket is a basket of items that I created to represent the "core" production of the economy from the gathering skills (woodcutting, fishing, mining, hunter and farming). The items that are included in this basket are as follows:

    Pure essence, Iron ore, Coal, Gold ore, Mithril ore, Adamantite ore, Runite ore, Raw lobster, Raw swordfish, Raw monkfish, Raw karambwan, Raw shark, Oak logs, Willow logs, Maple logs, Yew logs, Magic logs, Red chinchompas, Black chinchompas, Snape grass, Limpwurt root, Grimy kwuarm, Grimy snapdragon, Grimy toadflax, Grimy torstol.

    The Market Index is a basket of items that can be found on GE tracker.

    Instead of looking at a basket of items, one could look at the price of Old school bond to estimate the inflation, as membership is arguably one of the most essential things to have:
