    Hi All,

    It's been quite a while since the last Gielinor Gazette was released. We've completely revamped its purpose now, and we believe we've created something that will be much more realistic to maintain, enabling us to deliver more consistent releases for you to enjoy reading everything Old School RuneScape!

    Part of this change includes regular features of Postie Pete gallivanting around Gielinor, tracking down various NPC's and getting your questions answered!

    Is there a question you've always wanted answering from a particular character in-game? Well now's your chance! Simply reply to this thread with your question and we'll see if it can be answered!

    For those of you unfamiliar with Postie Pete and the Postbag from the Hedge, check out the most recent Postbag from the Swamp!

    In addition to this, we'll also be showcasing some of the amazing work the community creates. If you'd like one of your creations to be included in the upcoming Gazette, let us know by replying to this thread with a link to your work! (we'd prefer imgur links if possible!)

    We'll stop taking submissions on the 20th August, so there's plenty of time to get thinking and start creating!

    Mobile client unsafe

    Jagex needs to do something about their unsafe mobile client.

    I was involved in a major vehicle accident this morning while trying to smith gold bars at the blast furnace on my mobile phone, I'm currently in recovery and can no longer smith said bars at the blast furnace due to my injuries.

    How dare they release a mobile version of their game specifically for use while driving with such an unsafe interface! Every button I need to click is ridiculously small and I can't even play one handed like I can on a laptop - we need buttons at least double the size to be able to play this safely while operating a vehicle and in its current state it's a death sentence waiting to happen.

    How dare they release a mobile version of a game that puts my wife at risk due to the fact she now has to smith gold bars at the blast furnace for me while driving because I can no longer smith gold bars at the blast furnace while driving because of my injuries.

    How dare they 'normalise' staring down at your phone while driving because the screen is so tiny and you can't make out what's actually going on down there without 100% of your attention.

    This is the real issue guys and girls, screw this "Venezuelan's are ruining the economy" shit. Screw this "I can't go into the wilderness because Torvesta will tele block me" shit. Screw this "Mod Ash is actually Rendi and you've all been tricked to teach the algorithm" shit.

    The REAL issue is this mobile client and how dangerous it is for use average sane users.

    Hey guys,

    I was playing on my main ironman alongside a new HCIM account I just created (lvl 40 combat) when I suddenly got kicked out of the game on my HC. As I try to log back in, it said "account disabled". I go to account settings and am met with this (see pictures attached). Basically, an automated response saying Jagex's detection systems have detected me macroing bla bla bla. I know for a fact I have NEVER nor ever will bot in this game.

    I was hopping F2P worlds to pick up steel platelegs, which is a common low level moneymaker for this gamemode. Funnily enough, I had recently changed my RSN to "Be llatrix" like 15 mins before I got the ban. I don't know if a JMod has an issue with that particular Harry Potter character, but that combined with the spelling mistake in the ban message "Please note.... you will be ban permanently" makes me feel like this is an automated mistake. I urge someone to check my account as I was very excited to play and getting hit with a random ban just because you world hopped? changed your name? I don't know. I understand automation can lead to false positives and I am asking for someone else to double check fairly.

    I have already sent appeals through customer support, support tickets and whatnot, with no response. My RSN is "Be llatrix". I hope I can find some help on here as I really want to play more of my first HCIM without getting hit with random, undeserved bans.

    I'm tired of little work around solutions like storing seeds at the farming guild and clothing at my house. We continue to create items (new raid stuff, quest items, etc) yet are not creating any more storage,

    It's a great opportunity for a money sink as well - would gladly pay a few million gold for another bank or maybe a fee like 100k/month for some more space.

    Since the removal of rev caves, goldfarmers have moved to end-game PVM. With raids 3 now coming out soon, can something be done about the massive amount of goldfarmers being present at raids 1 & 2? It's absurd how many of them now have high kc, some up to 15k raid kc. The KC highscores reflect that.

    Multiple times they have said that they would do something about this issue that has been ongoing for years now. There are more goldfarmers in both raids 1 and raids 2 top 100 highscores than there are legitimate players. Leaders of certain big FFA raid goldfarming Discords/account service operations have now reached upwards of 15k+ KC in raids. Most of them are easy to spot.

    They have total levels around 1800-2000 with requirements for elite void and the best ava's device. Combine that with thousands of raid kc, and almost no other boss killcounts.Highscores are filled with goldfarmers that only have KC in bosses that were meta for gp/hour at a certain point in the game. High Zulrah/Saradomin/ToB/Corp/CoX kc are all red flags since they were meta for GP/hour at one point in the game. Most of the time they raid in gear worth around 200m max. This way they can somewhat raid efficiently, with a low risk of losing GP they carry on that account. People with 2000-15000 raid KC still raid in a dragon crossbow, a tent whip, a trident and a fury. Some of them have not been banend for such a long time that they managed to max their account. However, the fact that they have high KC in the meta gp/hour methods says it all. Those accounts are made to generate money and sell it off. There are so many of these accounts at both CoX and ToB. keep in mind: These people do not stake. Yet their money disappears into thin air, despite having almost zero investment into their account.

    If nothing gets done about this ongoing issue before raids 3 gets released, goldfarmers that often play for 10+hours a day will ruin the prices of the new rewards very quickly. They are the ones that will benefit the most, instead of the legitimate players that can play for 2-4 hours a day. This should not be the case. Multiple times Jagex has acknowledged the issue, but real action has never been taken. They took action against goldfarmers at Zalcano, but the best gp/hour methods for goldfarmers remain mostly untouched.

    The post below shows how bad the issue at Zalcano was. 67% of the top 5600 spots in the highscores were accupied by goldfarmers. I won't be surprised if the current situation at ToB and CoX has similar numbers.

    The video is "TBing people who just got a kill."

    It used to be dishonourable to do this kinda thing. Now it's cheered upon. But seeing those huge loots at the end of a video has inspired a generation of filth who sit around and do this all day.

    I went back to pking for 2 days last year. Session 1 - 1 kill, 1 double kill, 4 other deaths. I sucked but the 2 loots I got, some guy who sits at ge all day waiting for this TBs me and spears me/fire surges. Dead.

    Day 2 - 3 kills, 2 deaths. I got decent. But I still got NONE OF MY LOOTS lol. I got tbed and fire surged again once. But then I teled out, and then got frozen coming back one time (like wtf... only the looters win from doing this) and the other time I teled back, got 1 dh piece and the rest were taken by looters.

    I know people are gonna say "oh that's your fault." But like wtf how is running to the bank 1 tic after you get a kill, pulling out Max tank + elysian and having 10 brews and anglers the meta for getting a loot?

    People complain about PVP being dead, saying everyone's too good, it's no longer profitable etc etc. But like if the noobs like me have to deal with this shit every time we try the easiest way to Pk, veng/"edge" style pking, it's no wonder why no one pks any more.

    Simple fix would be to grant immunity for 1 minute in edge to varrock West bank after you get a kill. But yeahhh. I just thought this is never talked about.

    PS - I love Torvesta's vids. Esp deadman mode but also the combos/ account changes/ different styles of pking. It's not just him, but also framed and other big yters doing it. I guess it's cool if you do it once in a while or as a joke like how c engineer does it. But when like 1/3-1/2 Pk videos are this, of course pking is gonna die!

    This has been attempted with the adventure path systems, but I feel this is an approach that isn't as naturally effective as logging into a booming multiplayer game with players to interact with all around.

    Almost every free to play world is totally barren of players.

    Runescape, at first, should not be experienced as a grindy singleplayer game. Being around other players helps tremendously for new player retention, but the game has been changed to fight this design.

    • Hubs like the GE are (relatively) far from the starting areas

    • Bots- this doesn't need much explaining

    • To combat resource hogging bots, many free to play worlds have been made to disperse player count. This in turn makes each individual world more empty and barren.

    Tangible solutions include:

    • Putting new legitimate players (players that don't speedrun tutorial island) into region based "hub" worlds with deliberately high player counts would be huge

    • Some kind of introductory notion or way to know about the GE's existence. Maybe a small GE vendor that allows 3 trades a day in and around Lumbridge that can also "taxi" you to the GE (non-instant teleport)

    • Combating the issues bots (or high player counts) pose so other measures don't have to be taken. For instance; First 100 or so resources mined from copper/ tin/ clay/ iron should be entirely local and not crash-able from players automatically determined to be more legitimate at a glance. (Tutorial island completion time, xp/ items gained per minute, downtime or time spent chatting) Hill giants respawning faster, more areas or spawns for Ogresses.

    • Refrain from making more free to play worlds to combat botting or smaller issues like low # of resources. It is a band-aid solution that has a costly deficit to player retention.

    Returning player curious about this scam

    I see tons of people at the GE on every world wanting to see inventory, etc etc with the goal of just getting someone to trade them. Along with a number of random people trying to trade me while im geared up.

    I was told this is some kind of way of getting into your account - is this true? Ive turned my trade to friends only but am asking out of just legitimate worries that this would easily get a number of players screwed over.

    (Also how tf are there still millions of auto chat/rex swap/selling inferno capes bots spamming every Ge? This is absolute cancer to new players, and myself coming back my block list is over 100 in a few weeks just from worlds 330/420, and always growing)
