    Mid-league nerf to permanent choices.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 09:34 AM PST

Am I the only one that finds it unbelievably unfair for Jagex to nerf permanent choices in Leagues? I mean, I chose Last Recall because I saw how OP it was when Woox is using it and now they talk about nerfing it after people have already abused it. And how did they not see this coming? It's just amazing how they can even talk about doing this. I really hope it's a joke. This was a miscalculation by Jagex and the players should not suffer because of it.

[Trailblazer Guide] How to tick off many tasks using Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 03:05 AM PST

You've spent this weekend having the time of your life, and now you're wondering what to do or how to do as many tasks as possible in the shortest amount of time. Well, here are some tips for early game trailblazer on how to efficiently clean up Tai Bwo Wannai, a minigame you probably haven't touched since you've spent 750k buying a Gout Tuber to do Medium Karamja Tasks on your main account. If you spend some time doing this, you can make an amazing amount of progress during Trailblazer!

Requirements (aside from the ones that are unlocked immediately):

    • A machete (buy from local stores)
    • Antipoison (preferably ~10, but you can start with 3). /u/CrabJabber added that you can buy them from the general store north of the village.
    • Some food (leave some free inv space)
    • A pickaxe, spade, and chisel
    • 16 cooking
    • 40 melee stats recommended (lower is easily possible, but get insect repellant from Catherby to protect against mosquitoes)
    • 40 mining recommended (you'll miss out on a few tasks if you don't have it)
    • 50 woodcutting recommended but not needed

Note on the machete: a better machete will cut faster and speed up the process. /u/Rexkat suggested another way: mine the topaz first at Shilo Village, sell all the gems you don't need (jade/opal) for trading sticks, and get the topaz machete by buying it for 2400 sticks. Then, to finish off the task later, trade a Gout Tuber and a cheap gem for a machete at Safta Doc.

    Overall goal

Your goal is to do as many tasks as possible. Not just trailblazer tasks, but Karamja diary tasks as well. You'll hopefully end up with 100% favor as well. This will probably also leave you with a few cool items:

    • A broodoo shield. An overlooked but very good early game shield. Has a +3 magic att bonus and a +5 prayer bonus (req 25 def)
    • The best machete in the game
    • Access to teak and maho trees
    • Trading sticks
    • A swanky outfit)
    • A b-word pass

    Starting the minigame

With your machete in hand, start chopping light dense jungle. Don't bother using the sticks to repair the fence. You're looking for events while chopping. Here's what you're looking for:

    • Gout Tuber. An herb required for a task later. (harvesting it is a task itself)
    • Gem rocks. With 40 mining you can mine these. You're looking for 3 topaz (LEAVE THEM UNCUT)*
    • Green Broodoo Victims. Use your antipoison potions to kill them. About 8 doses kills one. You need two Green Broodoo Masks. One to turn into a shield, one to leave as a mask (another task). Don't bother with other colored Broodoo victims.** EDIT: see this post for info about how to easily defeat the others.
    • Bush Snakes. You need 2 snakeskins to make the Broodoo Shield.
    • A Jungle Spider. Use your machete on a thatch to create a skewer. Skewer the spider and cook it on the fire south of the village (task). Can also be gathered to use as emergency food.

As soon as you've built up some favor, you can talk to the locals to earn trading sticks. You can also sell unwanted gems to Gabooty for more trading sticks. You need the trading sticks for the following:

    • 1200 to get a red topaz machete (do NOT buy one from Gabooty)
    • 1200 for villager clothing***
    • 100 to enter the hardwood grove

Hopefully you've found all the items before hitting 100% favor. Talk to Safta Doc with 1200 trading sticks, 3 uncut topaz and a gout tuber to receive the best machete (which is also a task). If you have everything and don't have 100% favor yet, just chop jungle and repair the fence until you hit 100%.

Here are the trailblazer tasks that I could find that you can tick off doing this:

    • Enter the Tai Bwo Wannai Hardwood Grove [50]
    • Equip a Matching Tribal Mask and Broodoo Shield [50]
    • Equip a Full Tai Bwo Wannai Villager Set [100]
    • Equip a Red Topaz Machete [100]
    • Find a Gout Tuber [100]

Here are the Karamja Diary tasks you complete by doing this:

    • Earn 100% favour in the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup minigame.
    • Cook a spider on a stick
    • Cut a log from a teak tree
    • Cut a log from a mahogany tree
    • Exchange gems with Safta Doc
    • Mine a red topaz

See the comments for more info (marked in the post with *, ** and ***).

TL;DR. Do Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup as soon as you hit the requirements to earn a lot of points and progress towards the Karamja Diary.

If you have any suggestions, let me know! I'll add them to this post.
